(12) If, 1800 years ago, Irenaeus correctly postulated the name of the Beast as LATEINOS, meaning 'king of Latium, ruler of the Latin Empire, Latin man' - which numerical sum is 666, whereby Irenaeus rightly understood the 4th Beast to represent the Roman Empire, and the Little Horn to arise from the Latins, why on earth did the Roman Catholic Church choose the dead Latin language as its official language as found in their Bibles, authoritative writings and ceremonies? (13) If the Roman Pontiff is not the Little Horn, Antichrist, who has arisen from the ashes of the fallen Roman Empire, why on earth does he change his name to one of Latin extraction, proving Irenaeus' thesis, as did Karol Wojtyla change his name to Joannes Paulus II? (14) If the Roman Catholic Church, who claims 7 sacraments, is not Mystery Babylon, why on earth does she use the Latin term for 'sacrament' in translating the word 'mystery' in Revelation 17? Example: verse 5: 'Mystery Babylon the Great' is translated 'Mysterium: Babylon magna.' However, in verse 7: 'I will tell thee the mystery of the woman' is translated 'Ego dicam tibi SACRAMENTUM mulieris.' (15) If the Man of Sin can be identified as coming after 'the working' of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, is not transubstantiation of the Eucharistic bread into the infinite Godhead either the greatest wonder wrought by all-powerful holy man or the greatest deception wrought by the satanic Man of Sin? (16) If the Latin Vulgate translates 'the working' of Satan in II Thess. 2:9 as 'operationem,' why on earth would the Roman Catholic Church claim that the grace by which her sacraments are conferred is by virtue of the 'work done' - 'ex opere operato'? (17) If by 'Mystery Babylon' is to be understood ancient Rome, why on earth did John need an angel to instruct him of that fact since he was exiled by that very authority, which was the known enemy of the Christian Church? (18) If by 'Mystery Babylon' is to be understood ancient Rome, why then did it not fall in 'one day' as prophesied in Revelation 18, instead taking centuries to erode its empire? (19) If by 'Mystery Babylon' is to be understood ancient Rome, why then did the Lord use the figure of an unfaithful wife to describe her, when the Romans were pagans, not Christians claiming to be the bride of Christ? (20) If by 'Mystery Babylon' is to be understood ancient Rome, why then does the city of Rome still exist, when the word of prophecy clearly states that when Rome falls there will be no more city standing, all the world will know it and will be amazed at its sudden and utter devastation? (21) If by 'Mystery Babylon' is to be understood ancient Rome, and if the Church of Rome claims to be the true church left unharmed in Rome, why on earth does infallible Scripture predict that upon Rome's fall the sounds of silence echo where once the true Gospel was proclaimed and voices with instruments were raised in praise to the true God? I reiterate. There can only be one explanation. The church of Rome is that great whore, the synagogue of Satan, and her 'holy' Father, the Antichrist, whose destiny of damnation was written thousands of years before her rise, reign and visible fall and utter destruction come to pass. Let God be true but every unbeliever a liar. Rand Winburn Director Protestant Reformation Publication ________________________________ 07/16/02 What is your name? Fr McCafferty Do you have any comments? Anyone with an ounce of reason, who examines the Catholic Church
objectively, for example, reading the writings of Pope John Paul II,
could never come to the conclusion that he is "anti-Christ".
Nor could any reasonable person ever conclude, after objective, rational
and thorough analysis of all the evidence, that the Catholic Church
is evil or "Satan's Citadel". Read I Jn
2:22-23. There we have the Antichrist described and the description
in no way fits Pope John Paul or any other Catholic for that matter;
for, in the loving Communion of the Holy Spirit, Pope John Paul leads
every faithful Catholic in confessing with all our hearts and souls
the Father and the son. _____________________________ 07/16/02 What is your name? Fr McCafferty Do you have any comments? The Mystery Babylon described in Rev 17 is not and could not be the
Catholic Church. John's vision describes a city of abominations which
he terms Babylon. This city is a figure, along with the Beast, for all
the depravity and wickedness of the earth which blinds people to love
and goodness, making their hearts cold and hard towards the True God.
